A

AOL - Always Off Line or an ISP, e-mail provider, and browser rolled into one.(Also known as America Online - if you're lucky)

B

Broad band - a fast connection to the Internet.

Browser - also known as web browser. A program that let you view the specific files on the Internet. Just like MSWord allows you to see word files only, browsers let you view HTML files (and a few others).

C

Cable Modem - A broad band type of Internet connection that  goes over cable just like cable TV. You share this connection with your neighbor.

D

Dial-up - The most common and least expensive Internet connection service because it works over a normal phone line.

DHTML - Dynamic Hypertext Markup Language. One of the languages of the Internet and a step more advanced than HTML.

DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) - a dedicated broad band connection to the Internet, which means you don't share it with your neighbor like cable.

Domain name - the main address of a website (ie. www.domainname.com, is the domain name of www.domainname.com/html/anwherelse.html) These are registered with registartion services such as Register.com.

H

Hosting - think of web hosting like you would leasing land. You're leasing space to "park" your home (website).

HTML - Hypertext Markup Language is the primary language of webpages

I

ISDN - (Integrated Services Digital Network) A connection to the Internet that's faster than dial-up, but slower than the common broad band connections of DSL and Cable. The connection speed varies from 128 kb/sec to 256 kb/sec, depending on your ISDN modem.

ISP - Internet Service Provider. The folks who let you connect to the Internet.

URL - Uniform Registry L - simply put, a web address. This URL is www.wisdomcorner.com.
